Health Careers Technology Building | Community College of Baltimore County | Essex, MD

 

This four-story, 120,000 square foot building will create new offices, labs, classrooms for training health professionals. Expected to be completed in Fall 2020, the new building will house eight departments including nursing, respiratory therapy, radiology, radiography, emergency medical technology, physician assistant, massage therapy, and medical laboratory testing.

The center will feature a variety of simulation labs including a home environment lab for emergency response practice, exam and hospital patient rooms, and a cross-discipline lab designed to reflect emergency rooms. These spaces will be technologically advanced, with computer-controlled mannequins that mimic patient conditions. Other spaces include an academic conference center with flexible layouts, various spaces for individual or group work, and a 140-seat testing center with reduced-distraction testing rooms for special needs students.

The Health Careers Technology Building is designed to meet LEED Silver certification.
