Baltimore City Public Schools

Frederick Douglass High School

Project Information

The Design Team of KPN Architects, LLC planned, designed and supervised the renovation, and repairs to this historic campus located along Gwynn’s Falls Parkway in Baltimore City, Maryland. Shared by two independent charter schools namely The Global Academy and Innovations School, the KPN Team redesigned the Lobby, Classrooms, Computer and Science Laboratories to truly reflect the two high school’s focus on advanced science and technology innovation curricula. The exterior façade was also repaired to preserve the historic architecture and outfitted with new fixtures and signage custom-designed to mimic the original features.

Covering over 15,000 sf., the project was a “Fast Track” effort effectively coordinated by the KPN Team. All planned renovations and repairs were successfully designed and completed within budget goals and in time for the 2011 Fall School Opening.
