University of Maryland College Park Athletics Control Room Renovation

This project involved the implementation, design, and construction of a complete replacement of the videoboard at the west end of UMD’s Maryland Stadium. At 120-feet-by-54-feet, the new board is the 9th largest videoboard in America.

A large portion of the project consists of an upgrade to the videoboard’s control rooms located in the university’s nearby Xfinity Center Arena. Two of the control rooms are mirrored and control videoboards in five different locations on campus: Capital One Field, Xfinity Center, Ludwig Field, Bob Smith Stadium, and the Maryland Softball Stadium. The third, smaller control room is dedicated to live broadcasts of Olympic sports.

The renovations include all new display and control equipment, including production switchers, intercom controls, and live production servers.  In addition, a new audio system was installed throughout the stadium.

The Design-Build team implemented, designed, and constructed a complete turn-key installation including all display and control equipment, primary power and electrical distribution, secondary power connections, and all cabling.
